ADELE FLEET BACOW

President of Community Partners Consultants, Adele Fleet Bacow offers extensive experience in urban planning, cultural economic development, and the arts. She has consulted for a wide variety of clients nationally, including public agencies, municipalities, foundations and cultural organizations. Most projects forge partnerships between the public and private sectors, are complex with multiple goals, and require ambitious results with limited resources. Her expertise is helping communities realize their assets and resources, establishing successful partnerships, and creating plans that can be implemented with success.

Community Partners Consultants range of projects include strategic and business plans for Artist for Humanity’s successful EpiCenter in Boston, an artists’ live/work feasibility study for revitalization of downtown Jacksonville, Florida, a master plan and economic development strategy for the Worcester Arts District, and work on a plan for an arts and cultural district for downtown Beverly, Massachusetts with Montserrat College of Art, in collaboration with the City of Beverly and Beverly Main Streets. Ms. Bacow also has extensive experience in community economic development. Previously she was Deputy Director of the Massachusetts Government Land Bank, a state authority responsible for redevelopment of blighted properties and former military bases. She also worked on a variety of business plans for community development corporations around the country with the express goal of creating jobs for low-income residents, including Harlem, the South Bronx, East Los Angeles, and Boston. She also served as Director of Design and Development at the Massachusetts Council on the Arts, receiving a Federal Design Achievement Award for this work. Ms. Bacow is author of Designing the City: A Guide for Advocates and Public Officials. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Design from Wellesley College and Masters Degree in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
